Spring Fling at Becket House at Campton
April, 2009, Becket House at Campton
The recent Spring Fling at Campton was an absolute blast! Many families showed up for the festivities
and could be seen tossing around footballs, interacting with students, clinicians, and residential workers all with tremendous smiles on their faces.
The students were able to let loose and have fun with staff and their families in well structured events such as the water balloon toss and a mammoth
tug of war event. Pulling an evening together like this is much more than inviting families over for a cook out. It was an evening of teamwork,
fun, and positive family interactions. Congratulations to Becket House at Campton, and their supportive team willing to go the extra mile for the
students they support, for making this event such a success!
Campton Winter Carnival
February, 2009, Becket House at Campton
Back by popular demand, the Becket House of Campton brought back the Winter Campton Carnival to its students. The event was open to families and featured team competitions with goals to help foster The Campton House’s focus on community building and team work.
The Carnival kicked off with a snow sculpture competition. Entries were quite impressive, with one snowman standing well over six feet tall! The competition that kept bellies warm was the chili cook off. Each group prepared their entry during Culinary class. A savory pork chili, taco inspired beef chili, and spicy vegetarian chili made the grade.
The final event of the evening was the heated tug of war. After a day of friendly competition, the Campton Carnival winded down with a bon fire and hot chocolate for everyone to share laughs and great memories.
Campton Conquers Kinsman Notch
March 2009
Over the February vacation week, three students from the Becket House at Campton were challenged to an adventurous ice climbing trip through Kinsman Notch in central New Hampshire. Art Mooney, from Mooney Mountain Guides, led the expedition. Art challenged students to push themselves as they scaled the ice formation. After several successful attempts with traditional ice tools, Art issued the "no tool" challenge. All of the students stepped up to the task and completed the day with a sense of accomplishment and vigor.
