Program Description

 

Therapeutic Tutoring Center:

We provide a safe, structured and therapeutic environment for students who are in jeopardy of being placed because they have been suspended, expelled, or are refusing to attend school. The program also serves youth who are in-between placements or who recently have been discharged from a residential, medical, or psychiatric facility. The Tutoring Center provides individual, group, and family counseling, academic tutoring, psychological assessments, medication management as well as an array of school & community-based aftercare.

Day Treatment Services:

Public school special education students grades K-12 may be referred to School-Based Day Treatment Services as an alternative to an out of district placement. School-Based Day Treatment Services includes a 1-1 BHP (Behavioral Health Professional) as well as a licensed mental health counselor who provides clinical assessment, treatment planning, goal setting, behavioral crisis support, and Individual Outpatient Counseling to the student.

 

Other Services:

  • Targeted Case Management: The Behavioral Health Center offers Targeted Case Management to help families coordinate educational, legal, vocational, financial, and home support services.

  • Outpatient Counseling: The Behavioral Health Center offers a range of trauma-informed treatment methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy.

  • Home and Community Treatment: The Behavioral Health Center works with families to help develop strategies to effectively manage their child’s manage mental health symptoms and prevent hospitalization.

Meet The Team

Heidi serves as Clinical Director of the Seacoast Treatment and Stabilization Center. She is a dedicated, motivated professional who enjoys working in challenging environments. Heidi has a Master’s of Science degree and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Masters Certified Addiction Counselor. She began her career in social work as Child Protective Investigator, and worked as a therapist with juveniles in detention, as well as with women suffering from trauma and substance abuse issues. Heidi became Program Director of the 88-bed Focus residential program for males that received a program of the year award under her stewardship. She also received an Outstanding Service Award and was commissioned by the University of Florida as a guest speaker on prescription drug use. Heidi continued her career as Program and Clinical Director of several residential facilities in Florida and Massachusetts where she was responsible for management and quality assurance of all clinical services for clients with co-occurring issues.

Jamie Carver has worked at the crossroads of mental health and special education for over twenty years and is a long-time veteran of the Becket Family of Services.  He is a New Hampshire certified High School Principal with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, a professional certificate in Outdoor Leadership, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing.  Jamie is known and respected as a thoughtful leader and creative problem-solver in the field of youth services that support at-risk adolescents who have emotional, behavioral and learning issues. Jamie has helped to design, develop, and deliver multiple new and innovative schools, programs and services across New England.  When not working on developing new programs or services, Jamie can often be found providing free music lessons to students of all ages.  Jamie currently resides in Kittery, Maine with his dog and two cats.

David Prescott is Clinical Services Development Director for the Becket Family of Services. He earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work and has authored and edited 19 books and numerous articles and chapters, primarily in the assessment and treatment of abuse and trauma. David has lectured and implemented treatment programming around the world, and is the recipient of two lifetime achievement awards from international organizations. He is a Senior Associate of the International Center for Clinical Excellence and a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. David has served on the Editorial Boards of three scholarly journals. He is a past president of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and Chair of the National Adolescent Perpetration Network Advisory Board.
